Allow trainers to enter own meals into the smart meal planner
Trainers enter their own meals with pictures & macros which appear as choices when meal plan is generated from macros
Hi everyone,
Thanks for the great suggestion! This is something we are looking into.
Can you provide more feedback in comment section.
Looking forward to your feedback so we can build it correctly for you. Thanks.

Common daily foods like granola and peanut butter-jelly sandwiches are unavailable. The menu needs simpler everydau foods most clients are likely to need and enjoy.

I'm also close to wanting to move to Kahunas because of this. I understand the importance of not copying another softwares feature completely, however Kahanus literally have this feature nailed and the way it is laid out is so easy to understand. Allowing us to enter own meals from a library of foods (like Myfitnesspal), allowing us to create the calories/macros ourself would be great!

I'm so close to moving to Kahunas purely because of this!

Please keep it simple and allow trainers trainers to control the macros and input specific meals. Allow trainers to phase macros to fit a training plan, for example we may wish to up the carbs/cals on a heavy squat day or after a long run. We may want to allow a "cheat day" and alcoate the calories accordingly. This would also allow for fasting. Another thing I noticed is i have a Female client below 5 foot and her cals are too low for the app. I literally cant give her a diet plan from Trainerize. This all seems so basic it blows my mind you have the ability to do so many exciting and complicated things on the app but cant do the simple things.

This needs to be added asap. Allow flexibility and customization to the smart meal planner. This needs to be in the next update

Would love this - if it could put together the meal plan based on the individual meal macros and then if we could swap out each meal for any other meal we have created, that would just be so perfect! This is what I'm doing now, manually through google sheets, canva and email. I love your nutrition coaching add on but it's just not usable for me and my clients (even though I'm paying for it). Thank you so much for your attention on this feature!! It would be so so epic to have this sorted please.

This needs to be a feature it makes no sense why it's not, and people have been asking for ages now.. seriously COME ON.. I've been patient but I'm getting the ***** with it now and looking at other apps.

This is SO important. I was so surprised that this wasn't even a current feature. Are there any updates on when this will be rolled out?? It is causing a lot of manual work and the app with their nutrition side of things is very limited.

Need ability to add specific foods. My clients tell me their likes, dislikes, and allergies and I need to manually build the meal plan to freely add or remove certain ingredients/ foods.
Need ability to search for and add specific foods.
Also need a "food/ingredient swap" feature. If I put 100g of broccoli on their meal plan, but they don't want or have broccoli at that time, there should be a swap button and when clicked it will show other foods and their amounts which are nutritionally comparable to the original item. This allows clients to learn how to make choices and stay on track.

Any update on this feature?

We really need to have the option to custom some of the current meals plus add meals that are not provided. The concept of only giving a certain # of meals with certain calorie counts (ex. 1400 cal 3 meals a day) isn't the ideal way to teach clients how to portion control, eat only what your body can digest and have smaller meals throught the day. Having the ability to really put in meals that focus towards lower protein for kidney patients or for those that are bodybuilding is so crucial.

This option is pivotal for clients who are on a specific meal plan whether it’s due to a gastric bypass, bodybuilding competitor or an eating disordered client. The ability to input macros either by the trainer in a designated meal plan or by the client as they prepare their meals gives instant feedback to trainer and client, creates awareness and further improves adherence

We need to be able to add specific food products rather than it being purely auto generated. The auto generated feature is fine for meal ideas, but when a client joins my program they tell me their likes & dislikes, and I need to be able to manually build the meal plan myself.
A layout like MyFitnesspal where you can search and add specific foods would be perfect!

This is very frustrating as we all have waited for this for so long. Please make this a priority. (:

We would love a more flexible approach. We can set macros to our own goal. Have a place where they can add clients own meal/recipe or snack. Or quickly choose one from ours.
Maybe having a swap food option, example my meal that I give them is 500 calories, and have a swap option where once they click it, it will rotate to other 500 calorie meals. That would make it much easier for them to stick through meal plans. Please work on this asap. It's the one thing that we dont like and have been thinking of switching to another platform as right now we are paying for Trainerize and paying for another meal plan subscription to make it work.

I'd love for my clients to be able to use their own meals, or my (the trainer's) added meals, in with their smart meal planner. The smart meal planner his a great tool to have, but I feel it needs to be more flexible for our clients. For example, My method is for my clients to learn 'non-restrictive' dieting - if my clients are able to include their own snack options in with the smart meal planner, and for the planner to re-calculate the macros, then this would be an ever greater tool for everyone. Also, I understand how the 3 day meal planner is enough when understood correctly, but for most clients, a 7 day meal planner with the option of an exported shopping list would absolutely be their first choice.

I asked on the 'chat to us' feature a long time ago if this was going to be a feature and was told it would be coming Q4 2022 ..... so I continued paying for the meal planner section and it's now August 2024 and I'm still paying for it and I don't even have one client who is using it, I just figured I would keep it so I could upload meals so that when you are able to select the meals you have made I would be ready .... I live in New Zealand and a lot of the suggested food is hard or impossible to get over here. I just want to be able to use the meals I created to select and then make meal plans for my clients out of those

This is important, I have so many recipes that I upload to "meals" I wish that when i generate a meal plan for clients I can utilize my meals that I created. I don't even use the meal plan function because of the issue. This needs to be made a mandatory function. What's the point in giving us the option to upload our own meals in the library and can't even make use of them.

This is so important, I have to put my comp prep clients into kahunas because the meal planning system is so poor in trainerize, I love trainerize and I have used the system since 2018 but no sense in paying for two platforms so I will have to leave if the meal system is not updated to something like kahunas (basically like having MFP integrated to the system so I can enter to the gram exactly what i want someone to eat) Kahunas is also cheaper and offers unlimited clients for the one price, the only downfall is it's not as user friendly or as professional looking. There is not a lot keeping me here at this stage you need to up your game Trainerize!!
