Feature requests, ideas and suggestions

We are continually upgrading Trainerize with new features based on your feedback. Please add a new idea, or vote on an existing idea. This ensures your ideas don't get lost and always visible and other trainers can upvote your ideas. The idea forum allows us to keep a pulse check on what our trainer community as a whole wants.

Why should I vote?
This forum allows us to more accurately prioritize ideas to ensure a system of fairness by executing on improvements needed more urgently by a larger cohort of our trainer community, in order of voting priority. It offers you transparency into what we're reviewing, starting and have completed.

Vote subscribes you to the idea so when its status changes, you'll get notified. 

When does an idea get picked up?
The higher the votes, the more likely the idea will be completed but there is no fixed formula if an idea will be picked up as it is just one avenue we look at. The idea forum is only one of the many avenues we use to evaluate an idea's feasibility. We also factor in your conversations with our support team, in-app surveys, Facebook beta groups,  complexity of the idea, talks with our inner circle of trainers and how it fits with the overall vision of Trainerize.

For example, "Portuguese support" was for the longest time in our top 3. But embarking on that would significantly dent our ability to serve our primary English speaking community effectively.

  1. Exercise history tool accessible while building new programs

    Give trainers the ability to look back on exercise history while building workouts to allow the trainer to appropriately progress exercises between training phases.

  2. Showing previous workouts when using the progression feature

    Currently you can change the reps and sets on a weekly basis for any given workout. If you could include the previous stats, weight, reps completed or RPE from the previous weeks; this would make it easier to successful program what volume and intensity the client should receive for the following weeks.

    You can also layout the progress made for each client in a more concise manner.

  3. An apply all button

    An apply all button so that you don't have to change the sets reps for each exercise.

    Example
    You make a plan with 6 exercises in it then click on one exercise enter sets and reps and then a button to apply the same to all exercises would just save time

  6. Track RIR (reps in reserve)

    Create more specialized training programs for clients by using reps in reserve to help guide training progress and not leave strength and muscular gains on the table.

  7. Ability for clients to form groups with their families to self-motivate

    A group of my clients are challenging each other to drop the extra weight. I was thinking, it would be great if we could just use Trainerize to form a group – share our workouts, habits and food with each other to help hold each other accountable. So, instead of using Strave+FitnessPal+Facebook, we could just use Trainerize.

    None of us were interested in signing up with a trainer to get it done – but we’re pretty good at challenging each other 😊

    Especially for clubs I think this would be a great way to allow friends, families and groups to…

  8. Calculate total weight lifted during a workout

    I personally use an app called Strong for my training, which tells me the total weight I have lifted during my workout. I put a photo of this on Instagram and a few of my clients were asking if the trainerize app does this as they would like to know. From my experience, a lot of people like to know the total weight they have lifted.

  9. 5 second rest periods

    I would like to ability to use a 5 second rest period in my workouts.

  10. More minutes and seconds options for intervals

    In the interval feature, after 2 minutes, it jumps to 3,4,5,10,15,20,25,30. More interval options would be helpful. For example, half minutes and every minute up to 30 minutes or more.

    Ability to substitute a move for periodization. This way you can change the move for a bodybpart weekly

  13. Admins can have program work outs on their admin account

    I have to switch back snd fourth to use trainerize for myself, yall should allow for admins to be ale to have work outs.

  14. add manual exercise if a client is in a program

    If a client is subscribed to a program, it would be nice if there was a way to possibly add an additional exercise if the client needs a little extra boost. I only see the client can add freestyle workout on their own thus far.

  15. pictures posted in workouts

    Allow for clients to upload pictures and Gifs into workout comments. For Example; Myzone Heart rate monitor pic in workout comments, or a gif to express how that felt!

  16. Manually enter how long a workout takes

    Make it possible to manually enter the time it takes to complete a circuit workout? Currently, it does it automatically but we are hoping to create a group fitness test which would mean clients would not be close to their phone to start and finish at the exact time.

  18. Be able to set your own workout intervals e.g between 5 to 10 mins

    I have clients that are completing rounds of circuits over 5 minutes but the next jump is 10 mins. Would be nice to set my own timings e.g. 5 and a half mins or 6 mins etc.

  19. Live leaderboard for workouts

    For the group feature and just in general a live leaderboard for the workouts. We program a lot of HIIT or functional fitness type workouts and would love to see this feature to help create friendly competition. I know you can post a workout to the group feature but all it shows currently is who completed the workout.

  20. Autofill

    When a client is working out, currently they have to fill in reps and weight or time for each set individually, this is very redundant. If a client is doing 4 sets of bench press @ 185lbs for 10 reps all 4 sets should auto fill.
