Feature requests, ideas and suggestions

We are continually upgrading Trainerize with new features based on your feedback. Please add a new idea, or vote on an existing idea. This ensures your ideas don't get lost and always visible and other trainers can upvote your ideas. The idea forum allows us to keep a pulse check on what our trainer community as a whole wants.

Why should I vote?
This forum allows us to more accurately prioritize ideas to ensure a system of fairness by executing on improvements needed more urgently by a larger cohort of our trainer community, in order of voting priority. It offers you transparency into what we're reviewing, starting and have completed.

Vote subscribes you to the idea so when its status changes, you'll get notified. 

When does an idea get picked up?
The higher the votes, the more likely the idea will be completed but there is no fixed formula if an idea will be picked up as it is just one avenue we look at. The idea forum is only one of the many avenues we use to evaluate an idea's feasibility. We also factor in your conversations with our support team, in-app surveys, Facebook beta groups,  complexity of the idea, talks with our inner circle of trainers and how it fits with the overall vision of Trainerize.

For example, "Portuguese support" was for the longest time in our top 3. But embarking on that would significantly dent our ability to serve our primary English speaking community effectively.

  1. More metrics for “hiking” activity

    I work with a lot of hikers/outdoors people, and they like to share their mileage and elevation gain, not just the time it took to hike.

    Please add more metrics for the hiking activity.

  2. "Add my own target" for other cardio activities

    When making instructions for Cardio activities like skipping, it only gives the option to do "Time" or "None" I'd like to specify for say skipping 6 rounds of 60 seconds with 45 seconds rest as an example. Similar to "General" that has "Add my own target".

  4. Option to personalise an activity

    Whilst there is a "general" activity option available should your chosen activity not be one of the pre-sets, it would be an enhancement if when choosing "general", you had the possibility of renaming the activity.

  5. Steps

    I would like to be able to track steps with Trainerize only without using a 3rd party integration as some clients don't have Fitbit, Apple watch etc, so would be great if Trainerize would have this integrated

  7. Allowing Freestyle Workouts to be saved in clients workout

    When I create a freestyle workout, sometimes I want clients to re do that exact workout. There should be a way you can copy freestyle workout without having to re write the workout.

    Have a results tab on each set for every exercise clients do.
    e.g.

    Set 1: 12 RM (client input result)
    Set 2: 10 RM (client input result)
    Set 3: 8 RM (client input result)

  10. Allow different rep ranges within the same exercises

    Allow to edit a certain set within the exercise to change the rep range. This is quite annoying because i have to add the exercise twice to change the rep range.

  11. Client add comments to exercises

    Allow clients to add comment tags to specific exercises like "try heavier next time" or "record video for form check next time" etc...

  14. Flexibility with exercise and workouts

    I need the flexibility to mix and adjust elements of an exercise (Sets/Reps/Time/Weight) and elements of a workout (Regular/Superset/Circuit/Interval) all within a single workout.

    Example -

    Barbell Deadlift 3 x 5 135 lbs.
    Barbell Clean AMRAP for 3 mins @ 95 lbs.
    Push Jerk 10 minutes to establish heavy double
    Ab Crunch 2 x 1 min

  15. Display progress by exercise as well as progress by workout in tabular form.

    I find it easier when I create a workout and add an exercise done 2 months ago to be able on this exercise to find the number of repetitions and the weight done the last time, without having to remember that I had do this or that workout.

    Add a custom metric or intensity column for exercises ie. calories, Watts, rpm, tempo, etc.

  18. Not all exercises are reps x lbs. Please add a blank box to notate more flexibly

    Many many sports use body weight/other specific exercises that can't be described as reps x weight. An easy fix is to give trainers the ability to just add a blank box for unique sport notation. E.g, universal notation for hangboard training in climbing is 6x 7:3 (-10) (6 sets of 7 seconds hanging with 3 seconds rest with 10lbs taken off body weight). You are radically reducing your market by limiting functionality for gymnastics, boxing, rock climbing, swimming training and many other sports.

  19. The ability to filter through exercises when creating workouts on the mobile app

    On the mobile app, you are able to filter through exercises based on what muscles they work, etc.. when you go to “manage exercise library”, but when you actually go to create a workout on a clients account under the program tab, you can’t filter through the exercises. I feel like adding that same filtering ability would make things a lot more streamline when you make workouts on the mobile app as you can filter exercises by what muscles they work, equipment, etc.. This will also help my clients because they can edit their workouts and actually be able to…

    I would love if we could have 5 second rest option instead of 10 being the shortest amount of time!
