Ability for clients to select progression or regression
Ability to add regressions and progression. So clients can progress an exercise to a more challenging version, or regress to an easier version by themselves, without having to think about the right substitution.

This sounds interesting! It would definitely be a really nice function to have. Don't know how or if it's possible from a technical point of view, but it would sure make things easier when making Master Programs for a wide selection of people.

And the ability to link different exercises together - specifically progressions and regression of exercises. This way if a client is struggling with an exercise they can switch to the easier version. And if the move feels a bit easy to them they can choose to switch to the harder version.

Add your suggested regression / progression as a drop down for the given exercise
The client chooses the one best for themIf this can be done in a group program will allow modifications without taking a client out and designing for them personally
Would be a great addition

For each of the clients workout, have a drop down menu where they can pick a modification(s) or progression(s) for each exercise. This is especially necessary for group programs where everyone is at different fitness levels. They shouldn’t have to look up a substitute - they should right within the app be able to pick one that the coach recommends.

Copy the hylete workout app, that allows a client to either swipe left on a movement for the regression of it or swipe right for the progressed movement. allow for the trainer to set up what the progression and regressions are when they build the program. on the app the client should be able to hit the 3 dots in the corner and choose regression or progression have it change without adjusting the set and rep scheme

Here's how I think something like this should work:
A "substitution list" would let you add alternatives to the exercise that you approved. So you could add bench press and dumbbell bench press, and the client could substitute bench press for dumbbell bench press, but nothing else. Basically, this is a group of exercises, but it shows one at a time to the client.
We can use this either for substitutions or progressions/regressions depending on what exercises we add and what we tell the client to do.
On the trainer side, in the workout builder, the easiest way to do this would be to add all the exercises you want in the workout, select them all, then instead of selecting superset, they would select a new option call "substitution list" or "substitution group". It then groups them like a superset, but is labelled as a substitution group. This way the trainer can see all exercises, and most importantly can view tracked results and set up progressions without messing things up. As far as progression spreadsheet and progress graphs are concerned, they are showed in the same way a superset would be, though ideally with some sort of visual cue.
On the client side, it simply hides all exercises in the list except for the first exercise. They would be able to substitute different exercises by clicking a button. It should be visibly different than a standard exercise. Once subbed, the new exercise is active and will be visible in subsequent workouts, while the rest are hidden (but can be switched to with the sub list). -

I've seen this idea selected as planned something like 6 years ago?
This would make a HUGE difference in the quality of the training plans , especially when given to a bigger group of people, that would hugely help decrease amount of injuries and drop offs. -

Just signed up with Trainerize - I don't think I can continue to use this software without this feature. Way too time consuming to have to constantly edited someone's workout individually. It would be nice to set this up in the training program rather than edit it indiviudally.
