Feature requests, ideas and suggestions

We are continually upgrading Trainerize with new features based on your feedback. Please add a new idea, or vote on an existing idea. This ensures your ideas don't get lost and always visible and other trainers can upvote your ideas. The idea forum allows us to keep a pulse check on what our trainer community as a whole wants.

Why should I vote?
This forum allows us to more accurately prioritize ideas to ensure a system of fairness by executing on improvements needed more urgently by a larger cohort of our trainer community, in order of voting priority. It offers you transparency into what we're reviewing, starting and have completed.

Vote subscribes you to the idea so when its status changes, you'll get notified. 

When does an idea get picked up?
The higher the votes, the more likely the idea will be completed but there is no fixed formula if an idea will be picked up as it is just one avenue we look at. The idea forum is only one of the many avenues we use to evaluate an idea's feasibility. We also factor in your conversations with our support team, in-app surveys, Facebook beta groups,  complexity of the idea, talks with our inner circle of trainers and how it fits with the overall vision of Trainerize.

For example, "Portuguese support" was for the longest time in our top 3. But embarking on that would significantly dent our ability to serve our primary English speaking community effectively.

  1. Ability to Create Stand-Alone Products - PASSIVE INCOME!

    Allow trainers to create a product that a client can download automatically. With the information content like an ebook, but with the tracking features of Trainerize. I think clients would pay for this!

    Something like this:
    1. Trainer creates 3-month training plan, with general instructions, exercises, daily workouts, and progressions already in place.
    2. Trainer sets the purchase price
    3. Potential client decides to purchase the product and can pay online without trainer having to do anything
    4. Client now has access to the information AND tracking features of Trainerize for the entire duration of their program

  2. Progressions for cardio activities

    Trainerize has incorporated the ability to quickly layout progressions for a particular resistance routine/program. It would nice if we could do the same for cardio with volume, frequency, duration, intensity, level, incline, etc.

    1. Sync with Fitbit , workouts for calorie burn

    2. Create a graph for calorie burn.

    3. Allow us to mark custom workouts as cardio

    The timer for rest : starts at 15 why? I would like the option of 10 or even less

  5. Assign multiple trainers to one client to share

    Some trainers might need to share a client. ie. A trainer is working with a client on mobility/group fitneess. The other trainer is working on core programming.

    It will be good to assign the clients to both trainers.

  6. Add a workout on the fly?

    I end up not having time to plan a session for a client, but I have lots of workouts in the library. Would be great to just add in a workout from my library of workouts and record it on the fly, without having to add the workout to the client's training plan as whole. Possible?

  7. Mass Move Workouts or Shift Workouts by 1 week if a client is sick

    I usually program my clients for two weeks at a time. Every now and then, they miss a workout and now their whole program is messed up. I have to manually delete every workout and then re-add all the workouts. Usually, the client ends up doing the same routine, just pushed back a day.

    If you could, make their a way to select the workouts in the calendar and then add an option that says move forwards one day, back one day, back two days, back three days, back one week.

  8. Provide the ability to import historic data using simple CSV files. Additionally export would be nice.

    When you are moving to a new platform such as trainerize and you want to make use of all your existing data. Bulk importing body stats and training results by CSV is the easiest way. If you can provide import capability then it makes it much easier to switch.
    It'd be nice to be able to export as well, but import would be the priority for me.

  9. Allow trainers to use the app to send new workouts to clients which are named, Ie, "Fran". Just space to add workout via app to calendar.

    In the section on the app which allows you to add a workout, give a place to simply add the name of a workout such as a CrossFit wod. There should be a space to add score or time by client after.

  10. allow client to add notes for each excercise

    Now, it's possible for clients to make notes for the whole workout, but not for each excercise. Would be great to do that (Example: "Reduced weight bench press due to DOMS" --> barbell bench press. "New record, yes!" --> Barbell Squat)

    Otherwise, great job! Love your Service and my clients do too.

  11. Update the workout template section so that we can have more than 10 workouts in chronological order!

    Right now, you can only have 10 workout templates before the system reads 11 as just below 1 and does not list the workout templates in order. For example, if you have 11 workout templates Trainerize will list your templates like this:
    Day 1
    Day 11
    Day 2
    Day 3
    Day 4 etc...

    Even if you write them out it lists in alphabetical order
    Day Four
    Day One
    Day Two etc....

    Seems like an easy fix and it would make things alot easier when making large, multi day workout programs in the template.

  13. New Stats to record

    Can we get fields to record visceral fat score, our own calculation of muscle mass percentage, and base metabolic rate?

  14. Drop down list of exercises

    The ability to create a drop down list of exercises in a program i.e. say a program consisted of:

    A1 - Lower body single leg push - 4 x 6-8
    A2 - Upper body pull - 4 x 6-8

    B1 - - Lower body single leg pull - 4 x 6-8
    B2 - upper body push - 4 x 6-8
    B3 - core - 4 x 10-12

    D1 - biceps - 2x10-12
    D2 - triceps 2x10-12

  15. Add 'Instructions' field before each superset within a workout

    At the moment there is a field to add instructions for the entire workout, but each "superset" within each workout may have a set of instructions that's unique to the others. I understand that you can outline this at the top of the workout; however, it can be quite annoying or difficult to have to constantly reference the instructions at the top of the page. Furthermore, understanding which instructions correspond to which superset can be confusing to some. An 'instructions' field before each superset would remedy this and make for a much better UX.

  18. Clients should be able to add an exercise

    Before the update, clients could add an exercise to their workout, and now they can't. Given that things often have to be adjusted on the fly (based on injury, equipment availability, etc) they should be able to track what they did even if they have to adjust.

  19. Use YouTube Playlists for exercise videos

    i.e. playlist of multiple exercises used for a warmup, complex, mobility series, etc. I have YouTube playlists that I would like to allow people to view from within the app.

  20. Print the workout with a bigger font size

    Some of my clients are unable to read or see their training as the print font size are too small.
