The food database has over 754k grocery foods with barcodes and 185k restaurant foods.
It is also dietitian verified. They have a seamless API to place in your backend system/s.

I LOVE the nutritionix app and have had all my clients use it prior to setting up my trainerize. Would love to see that implemented instead of just MFP (which is also great—I can work with it). Just a thought :)
