allow client to add notes for each excercise
Now, it's possible for clients to make notes for the whole workout, but not for each excercise. Would be great to do that (Example: "Reduced weight bench press due to DOMS" --> barbell bench press. "New record, yes!" --> Barbell Squat)
Otherwise, great job! Love your Service and my clients do too.
Hi everyone,
Thanks for your great suggestion! We've added this to our work queue. We'll post further updates here as our teams pick it up to work on it. Please come back to ideas.trainerize.com to add your vote to other ideas.
Thanks!

Sometimes during a session I may want someone to perform slow negatives, or partial reps, or drop sets - I want to be able to denote that directly on the exercise when I’m programming it

I think this would be good for clients AND trainers. My clients want to track things like seat position on equipment.

Allow a note section for each exercise that is put into a workout. This would be great to teach the client what to feel/look for in the exercise or to add variety such as 1/4 reps.

This is a huge piece missing in the software. Please fix it asap!

Allow trainers to write a comment or instruction on each individual exercise instead of the whole program.
So non english speakers can write instructions in their own language. -

Would be handy if they are struggling with a movement,
Even if we as trainers wanted to implement RPE (rate of perceived exertion) -

I think this is important for clients to track RPE/RPT, which band was used for say band assisted pullups, any variation used etc.
Adding in general workout notes is less than ideal and I would want to see this in the same way previous reps/weight shows next to the exercise, ideally. Just a note box below each exercise. -

Ability to add specific notes to an exercise that will show up when that exercise is programmed, instead of just assign notes to the general workout

Also to be able to refer to previous notes for that particular exercise so when they are doing that same training session again, they can see what their note was the week before.
Example: They may have felt some pain in the right shoulder the week before. Then next week they can see that they were feeling some pain and be aware if the condition has improved.
Maybe you could have a small note icon next to each exercise during that workout that they can click on to review previous notes or add new notes?

I have clients that make notes on exercises or workouts and want me to review them. The only way to know if they’ve made notes is either by them telling me or me going in and manually searching. I want to get notified when a client makes a note.

The ability to comment notes for each exercise to input RPEs and other values other than reps and weight, like a red or blue band and such

Notes can be written next to an individual exercise where you input weight and reps done. And allow the client & trainer to see notes when looking at the previous workout(s).

Definitely need tonite if they switch weight in the middle of the set. Example: shoulder press 22 reps but they can only do 8 reps at 20 pounds and need to finish the set off at 15 pounds

Yes!! Why isn't this a thing yet?!?
For the trainer and the client. I want to be able to say "drop set on your last set" for example and want them to be able to give me feedback on a specific exercise, not the whole session. Those notes should be accessible list previous stats so we can both reference.

A place to include proper settings for machines, etc. A lot of clients tend to forget.

I definitely vote for this idea, and think @steffanshelemey nailed it with his suggestions.
To be able to track things such as band assisted chin ups, or the height at which a client is doing push ups onto.
Also to be able to gauge the "RIR" (reps in reserve) or "RPE" (Rate of perceived exertion) would be SO valuable to be able to make note of and track.
Thanks!!

- any issues that day ( ie injury, poor sleep)
- coaching cues specific to this person / their homework to practice on this exercisewould like to see each exercise that has notes highlighted in some way, maybe by colour or by an icon next to it so both the client and you know there is an exercise note without having to open every exercise to see if there is one there.... or maybe even just the option on the standard notes tab to 'copy to next workout / s .

I already mentioned below, I'd like to have the option to receive notifications when my virtual clients leave any kind of notes in a workout or exercise for me to review. Thank you!

Most machine and free weight exercises are fairly straight forward but body weight exercises need specific notes to track progress.
Examples of what I might take note of beside each individual body weight exercise:
Band Assisted Pull Up: 8 reps with "1 inch" band at "level 7 on the J-hooks"
Progression would look like: 8 reps with "1/2 inch" band at "level 7 on the J-hooks"
Gotta be able to track band assist with notes beside the exercise rep count
RIR - Reps In Reserve: I may ask my clients to track their RIR on their first or last set for a certain exercise to "gauge" how hard their working with the chosen weight. If they say they had 3-4 reps in reserve...I know they could be working harder. If they say they had 1 RIR...they're training "just right".
It can also show me progress. For example:
BB Bench Press: Set 1: 6 reps @ 225 lbs with 1 RIR
2 months later... Set 1: 6 reps @ 225 lbs with 2-3 RIR (here I can note that performing the same lift is now easier in terms of RPE...the client is getting stronger. Anytime we can show the client progress, that is a major win!).
Anyways, all I need is a box beside each "set x rep x weight" box so the client can make whatever note I need them to take please and thank you.
ALSO...
when you take notes (top right of program), they are limited to being viewed only on that day. It would be so much better if the notes were CUMULATIVE with the program. Meaning: If I take a note about a particular workout on September 1st...I can train that client on September 30th and be able to view that note in the note taking section while remaining on September 30th training day.
Currently, I have to save and back out of the current work out to review an old work out by scrolling back to September 1st in order to review any notes WHILE training my client. This is no good.
Thank you adding better note taking abilities : )

For me a general text box for notes on each exercise is fine. I’d love to see them in workout review and on the dash (both overview and client dash).
