Allow for timed sets instead of only reps...ex squats for 1 min
Sometimes i like to set a client to hit a specific number of reps and for some exercise i would love to be able to say 5 sets each lasting 1 min
Hi everyone,
Thanks for your great suggestion! We’re marking this idea as completed!
You will need the update your mobile app to the latest version for this to work.
The web workout builder now supports timed sets.
We’re returning your vote to you so please come back to ideas.trainerize.com to add your vote to other ideas.
Thanks!

Hi @Trevor! Your Question: Just to clarify, did you want to prescribe an exercise like “Pushup for 1 minute” or “Bodyweight squats for. 30s” in a regular workout? And they would count the reps and enter it in?
To answer your questions: Yes! And YES! If they are able to hit start for the push ups and not the whole workout, as soon as they completed the push ups they could enter their numbers and then hit start for their bodyweight squats. I currently instruct my clients to get out a pen and paper to record their numbers. They then have to go back and enter the numbers after the workout. They are sometimes exhausted by then or ready to move on to other things in life and forget to record what they did.

@TREVOR. I think what we’re asking for here is the ability to put the ‘interval’ timer inside of a regular workout.

This is HUGE. I really can't believe that we can't have a warm up with reps in addition to something like intervals after. I have just done 4 free trials with different training software companies and this is in every one of them.

Yes! And an interval timer would be amazing so they don't have to keep resetting the timer

Omg. Yes.

A timed clock to switch existing sets of a strength exercise to a timed block such as for EDT ( escalating density training) etc where instead of e,g 5 sets of 10 you can do a set of 5 mins or a superset of 5 mins and log your load and reps as you go

I agree that it would be very useful to be able to have timed sets as well as regular rep sets within the same workout. Current if you select a "regular" workout from the workout builder, there are a few options such as Circuit and Superset, but it would be very helpful add an option for Interval here as well. I realize you can build an Interval workout, but it restricts the entire workout to interval training.

Can already do that

Many times in my workouts I have both times exercises and repped. For example maybe I want to give them a cardio burst after their repped exercises in a mini circuit. Like rope jumping after bicep curls and triceps extensions, for example. I would like to time the rope jumping and count reps on the other.

Would Like to be able to have the workout add the same timer like you would for intervals but be able to group exercises together for specific duration. The goal is AMRAP but it would make it easier to program. 5 x, 5 y, 5 z as many rounds as you can in 5 minutes. and then timer starts. then built in rest.

Currently if you choose regular, interval or circuit you are locked into one style or format. The ability to create a regular workout and set time targets for AMRAP would be great.
Example: Be able to super set battle ropes (AMRAP in 60sec) with a weighted exercise for reps.

Simply add in the timing to the description of the workout, or choose circuit. You could also just type in "for time" or as many as possible, or AMRAp and then explain to your clients what that means.

Agreed - or an 'AMRAP' approach.
For example, I want my client to do 20 mins, as many rounds as possible of 10 squats, 10 ring rows and 10 push ups. -

I would like to be able to mix reps and interval times. For example: 20 reps of an exercise and then a :20 second sprint, 20 reps of another exercise and then :20 second sprint, etc. etc.
My clients like the countdown feature for the sprints but the time allotted for the reps is either too long or too short and they cannot skip forward nor log their amount of reps for the time frame given. -

A text box similar to sets and reps so we can instruct exact rest times for each exercise as opposed to only an entire additional category for all reps, weight, times and intensifiers that leaves things looking clustered and having too much notes.

I often create workouts for my weight loss clients where there is very little rest. After each weight/strength set, they immediately do 30 - 60 seconds of intense cardio, such as step ups holding a weight or kettleball, side shuttle runs, strides, medicine ball lunges (on non leg workouts) etc. Sometimes we do the same cardio after each set for the whole workout, sometimes we alternate between two different moves, sometimes I mix it up with four or five different moves and rotate through them. If you put in 12 - 15 strength exercises and the cardio bursts after each one, you have a very intense, challenging workout usually coming in under 45 mins. I'll also plan in two or three 1 min rest/heart rate check/water breaks.
It would be great if Trainerize could recognize that the ability to add the same exercise repeatedly throughout the workout would be very useful.
